Grilled Turkey Burger with Avocado and Tomato

Ingredients:
·
1 pound
ground turkey
·
1/2
small red onion, grated
·
1/2
teaspoon garlic powder
·
1/2
teaspoon onion powder
·
1/2
teaspoon paprika
·
Salt
and pepper, to taste
·
4 whole
grain burger buns
·
1 small
avocado, sliced
·
1 small
tomato, sliced
·
4
lettuce leaves
·
1
tablespoon olive oil
·
1
tablespoon balsamic vinegar
Instructions:
·
In a
large bowl, mix together the ground turkey, grated onion, garlic powder, onion
powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.
·
Divide
the mixture into 4 equal parts and form them into patties.
·
Preheat
a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Brush the patties with a little bit
of olive oil, and grill them for about 5 minutes on each side, or until cooked
through.
·
While
the burgers are grilling, toast the whole grain buns on the grill or in a
toaster.
·
In a
small bowl, whisk together the remaining olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
·
Assemble
the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom of each bun, followed by a
turkey patty, a few slices of avocado, and a few slices of tomato. Drizzle the
balsamic vinaigrette over the top of the burger, and serve immediately.
This turkey
burger is a healthy and delicious alternative to traditional beef burgers.
Turkey is a lean protein that's lower in fat and calories than beef, and the
avocado and tomato add a healthy dose of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. The
whole grain bun is also a healthier option than a white bun, as it's higher in
fiber and nutrients.
